Date night and healthy living seem to be at odds, right? On the one hand you have meal planning and sweating away in the gym, and on the other hand you have a decadent dinner, red wine, and who can forget the chocolates! For a lot of women, date night comes with a lot of apprehension. How can you expect to reach your goals AND enjoy that four-ounce Filet Mignon?
Well my suggestion to you is to go out and have fun! That’s right, don’t stress about your macronutrient intake, your caloric needs, or staying on track with your diet, just for one night. Memories are far more important than sticking to your diet for one night (check out my Jessie’s Girls #memoriesovermacros hashtag!). You are worth it! If you’ve been kicking ass with macros lately and you really don’t want to throw it all out the window – you can definitely adjust your macros a bit throughout the first part of the day to allow for that dinner out with your loved one(s). Just reduce the macros of each meal leading up to your date night so that you have extra macros for dinner. And, seriously, don’t worry if you still go over a bit – just get back on track the next day and reschedule that leg day for the next morning to use up that fuel!
You don’t have to deprive yourself just to reach your goals. In fact, as well as having a romantic night with your loved one, you can enjoy chocolate treats on a regular basis. To do that, swap out some of your favorite sugary ingredients for healthy alternatives, like whey protein, peanut butter and stevia.
Here is a list of a few of my favorite chocolate protein treats that will allow you to enjoy chocolate decadence all the time!

CHOCOLATE TREATS TO ENJOY IN MODERATION
Red Wine – Moderate consumption of red wine has shown incredible results like lowering the risk of heart disease. Red wine is packed with rich antioxidants like resveratrol, an antioxidant that has been linked to lowering inflammation and blood clotting.
Dark Chocolate – Dark chocolate (70 percent or darker) is loaded with minerals like iron, magnesium, manganese, and selenium. Dark Chocolate has even shown to increase high-density lipoproteins (HDL), improving insulin sensitivity, and lowering risk for heart disease.
